Renowned plastic surgeon, Dr. Garth Fisher, known for his work with the Kardashian family, recently shared a reality check regarding the pursuit of celebrity-like aesthetics through surgery.
Speaking on The Face with Alex Pike podcast, Dr. Fisher expressed concern about the influence of social media platforms like Instagram on people’s perceptions of beauty. He emphasized that filters on platforms like Instagram create unrealistic expectations, making it impossible for surgeons to replicate such digitally altered looks in real life.
“It’s our responsibility to dictate what’s necessary, what’s appropriate, and what the possibilities are and be honest with our patients,” Dr. Fisher emphasized.
He stressed the importance of managing patients’ expectations and indicated his willingness to turn away patients if he believes he cannot meet their desired outcomes. “I like understated – I don’t want people to look like they’ve had plastic surgery,” he added.
Dr. Fisher, famously dubbed “The Enhancer” by Vanity Fair, has a long history of high-profile clients, including the Kardashian family. He performed Kris Jenner’s facelift, Kourtney Kardashian’s breast augmentation, and removed a tumor from Khloe Kardashian’s face. He also provided Caitlyn Jenner with a revision facelift and helped Lisa Rinna achieve a more natural lip appearance.
With a career spanning decades, Dr. Fisher has been a trusted figure in Hollywood, having worked with Hugh Hefner and countless Playboy models, among others.
Despite the allure of celebrity beauty, Dr. Fisher’s cautionary words underscore the importance of realistic expectations and the limitations of cosmetic procedures in achieving social media-inspired aesthetics.
