A third woman has filed a lawsuit against Glendale plastic surgeon Bradley Becker, alleging medical negligence and failure to perform agreed-upon procedures. Julie Culton, accompanied by her husband Jay, lodged the complaint in Maricopa County Superior Court on January 26. This legal action follows similar suits by Wendy Ellsworth and Alicia Armijo, who accused Becker of performing substandard plastic surgeries under the influence. Becker faces multiple complaints to the medical board overseeing his licensure, with at least five women having voiced grievances.
Culton’s lawsuit contends that Becker breached his professional obligations by failing to deliver the expected standard of care. Specifically, Culton paid $13,400 for a breast lift, liposuction, and revision of a tummy tuck scar, none of which were satisfactorily performed according to the lawsuit.
“After the surgery,” the lawsuit alleges, “Culton observed that Dr. Becker had not performed a breast lift, although he had previously agreed to do so and Plaintiff (Culton) had paid him to do so. The other two procedures that Dr. Becker had agreed to do — the scar revision and lipo procedure — were either not done or were done in such a way as to give the appearance they were not done.”
Culton claims significant disfigurement and the need for corrective procedures due to Becker’s work, along with physical and emotional distress, financial strain, anxiety, depression, and embarrassment. The lawsuit seeks compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and legal fees.
“It feels like I just threw almost $15,000 in the trash,” lamented Culton. “I hate the way I look in clothes. It’s depressing, and it sucks. I’m jaded. I don’t have the money to go get it fixed again.”
The lawsuit also mentions a “loss of consortium” in the Cultons’ marriage as a consequence of the surgery.
Culton revealed that she was initially referred to Becker by a satisfied friend but decided to come forward only after hearing about similar complaints from Ellsworth and Armijo. The allegations against Becker were first reported by Phoenix New Times.
