Gypsy Rose Blanchard, 32, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a poignant message about overcoming the past. Alongside a throwback photo from 2009 showing her wheelchair-bound teenage self outside the Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, she posted a recent selfie showcasing her plastic surgery transformation.
In the caption, Blanchard wrote, “There is a beauty in the struggle of overcoming your past,” accompanied by the hashtag “#selflove.”
Blanchard’s recent selfie depicts her laying in bed after undergoing a dramatic change in appearance, including dying her hair blonde and getting a nose job.
Just weeks prior, Blanchard had deleted her social media accounts, expressing disdain for the platform as a “roadway to hell” and declaring her desire to no longer be in the public eye. However, she has since made a return, sharing her modern-day snap and revealing a new couple’s tattoo she got with her ex-fiancé Ken Urker.
Blanchard’s personal life has been under scrutiny lately, particularly after her split with Ryan Anderson and subsequent reconciliation with Urker. The pair recently flaunted matching Husky dog tattoos, obtained around the time Blanchard filed for divorce from Anderson.
Blanchard’s journey gained national attention nearly a decade ago when she pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, who had subjected her to Munchausen by proxy. After serving eight and a half years in prison, Blanchard was released in December.
Since her release, Blanchard has undergone a significant physical transformation, including rhinoplasty surgery in April. Despite expressing a desire to retreat from the public eye, Blanchard is set to appear in the upcoming show “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up,” premiering on June 3.
