Comedian Matt Rife, known for his sharp humor and distinctive appearance, has openly addressed ongoing speculation about his looks throughout his career. The 28-year-old performer has faced numerous comments and accusations regarding potential cosmetic enhancements, but he has consistently refuted these claims.
In his latest Netflix comedy special, Lucid, which premiered in August 2024, Rife took a comedic approach to the plastic surgery rumors. Following his acknowledgments, the special transitions into a black-and-white epilogue slideshow that humorously suggests he had “obviously fake” dental work and a “fake jawline.”
Denial of Plastic Surgery Claims
Rife has repeatedly denied undergoing any plastic surgery. During an episode of the Cancelled podcast with Tana Mongeau and Brook Schofield, he firmly dismissed these allegations. “Not a single f—ing thing,” Rife stated when asked about cosmetic procedures. He further criticized those making claims, asserting that they were not only incorrect but also failing in their profession. Rife attributes his appearance to natural aging, humorously referring to it as the work of “doctor G-O-D.”
Controversial TikTok and Dental Work
The comedian also addressed a viral TikTok from Dr. Benjamin Caughlin, known as @manyfacesofchicago, who jokingly claimed credit for Rife’s jawline. In response, Rife commented on an Instagram repost of the video, warning that misrepresenting medical history could be illegal.
While Rife denies any surgical enhancements, he has been candid about his dental work. On the Cancelled podcast, he revealed that he had received veneers as a teenager due to poor dental health. Rife shared his experience on Instagram in 2018, thanking his dentist, Dr. Kourosh Maddahi, for transforming his smile. “Some people don’t know my teeth used to be f—d, and I’d rather have died than smile,” he wrote, expressing gratitude for the improvement.
Rife continues to maintain his smile with regular checkups. Dr. Maddahi endorsed Rife’s testimonial in October 2023, acknowledging the comedian’s ongoing care and the quality of his dental work.
Through humor and transparency, Rife navigates the scrutiny of his appearance, emphasizing his commitment to authenticity both on and off the stage.
