Australian radio host Amy Gerard has voiced her concerns about breast cancer screenings following the insertion of breast implants a decade ago. On KIIS Network’s “Chris Page and Amy Gerard in the Morning,” Gerard emphasized the importance of regular check-ups but expressed confusion over the process for women with implants. She shared her struggle with self-exams, stating, “I don’t know if things are different for me or if I should go about things the same way as someone without an implant.” Gerard also questioned how mammograms work with implants, as they involve compressing the breast between plates.
Mammograms can still be conducted for women with implants, though additional images, known as implant-displaced views, are often required to assess the tissue behind the implants. Gerard, who recently underwent surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma from her face, revealed the surgery’s impact on her appearance through Instagram Stories. She displayed post-surgery images and discussed how the procedure had altered her facial expression, giving her a permanently concerned look.
This health update follows Gerard’s recent public confrontation with online criticism regarding her parenting. A follower had criticized her for kissing her children on the lips, which she defended by asserting the importance of parental affection. Gerard, who has three children with her husband Rhian, rejected the criticism, highlighting that such expressions of love are beneficial and natural.
