Former Food Network star Sandra Lee has addressed recent speculation about her appearance and weight loss efforts, firmly denying allegations of excessive plastic surgery. Lee, 58, disclosed that her youthful look is a result of natural aging and weight gain rather than cosmetic enhancements.
Lee clarified that her recent experience with the weight loss drug Ozempic was problematic. She described an allergic reaction to the medication, stating, “I’m allergic to Ozempic, clearly! It didn’t work!” Lee had previously shared in April that although she lost 10 pounds with the drug, she suffered severe side effects, including a week of bed rest due to illness.
Addressing perceptions of her changing physique, Lee noted, “When I was younger, someone told me I was too skinny to be a chef. Now, people think I’ve had a lot of plastic surgery, but that’s not true. I’ve simply gained 30 pounds since my Food Network days.”
Lee first rose to prominence over three decades ago on QVC before launching her hit show “Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee” on the Food Network in 2003. Recently, she has been involved in Netflix’s “Blue Ribbon Baking Championship,” where she admitted to gaining 10 pounds due to constant tasting of competition desserts.
The series, which premiered on August 9, features bakers competing for a blue ribbon and a $100,000 prize. Lee expressed confidence in the show’s success, highlighting the widespread appeal of state fairs, which inspired the show’s concept. Despite past rejection by Food Network, she is pleased to see the show come to fruition.
In addition to her television endeavors, Lee serves as an ambassador for QVC’s Age of Possibility platform, advocating for women over 50 alongside notable figures like Queen Latifah and Martha Stewart.
Reflecting on aging, Lee expressed pride in her accomplishments and life. She emphasized the value of self-acceptance and the satisfaction of personal achievements, stating, “I like my stuff, I like my life, I like what I created and I’m proud of me.”
Sandra Lee continues to embrace her evolving identity while challenging misconceptions about her appearance and health.
