DHR Health, the largest physician-owned hospital in the United States and a vital healthcare provider in the Rio Grande Valley since 1997, has announced the addition of Dr. Paul A. Berry to its Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Institute. Dr. Berry, a board-certified plastic surgeon, is dedicated to transforming lives through surgical procedures that restore function and enhance appearance, ultimately empowering patients with renewed confidence.
Dr. Berry’s impressive credentials include a medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine, where he participated in the prestigious NIH Medical Research Scholars Program. He furthered his training with a combined residency in general and plastic surgery at Texas A&M Health Science Center – Baylor Scott & White Medical Center.
Throughout his career, Dr. Berry has gained extensive experience in diverse clinical settings, specializing in areas such as skin cancer treatment, craniofacial reconstruction, breast reconstruction, body contouring, and aesthetic surgery. In addition to refining his surgical expertise, he has also been committed to education, mentoring surgical residents and medical students, and shaping the future of medicine.
Dr. Berry emphasizes a patient-centered approach in his practice, prioritizing both aesthetic and functional outcomes. He believes in taking the time to understand each patient’s unique goals and concerns, tailoring treatment plans to ensure natural and personalized results. His commitment to creating a supportive and compassionate environment allows patients to feel empowered and confident throughout their surgical journey.
“My approach as a plastic surgeon is focused on guiding patients through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. When patients face a diagnosis like breast cancer, they often feel overwhelmed by their loss. My goal is not only to focus on survival but to restore what has been taken away and help them feel whole again. This is why I chose this field—to provide care that rebuilds both their confidence and quality of life,” Dr. Berry stated.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Berry enjoys staying active by going to the gym, playing chess, and keeping abreast of the latest research to enhance surgical safety. He is bilingual in Spanish, which he believes helps him connect with his patients on a deeper level.
Dr. Berry is currently accepting new patients at the DHR Health Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Institute, located at 1100 E. Dove Ave, Suite 400 in McAllen.
