Fleetwood Mac’s legendary singer Stevie Nicks, 76, has revealed that she realized she had a late-stage eye condition after experiencing vivid, psychedelic-style hallucinations. In a recent four-hour interview, Nicks opened up about her declining vision, which she said had troubled her for years.
During the interview, Nicks described the strange symptoms she encountered, explaining, “I was seeing all these colors, big swaths of purple. It felt like I was having acid trips. But I wasn’t taking any acid.”
It is believed that her long-term eye issues may have stemmed from her use of glass contact lenses in the past, which are thought to have caused damage to her corneas.
Recently, Nicks captured headlines for her emotional performance at BST Hyde Park in London, where she surprised fans by bringing Harry Styles on stage. Styles, 30, joined Nicks for a memorable performance during her set, which included renditions of “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.”
The show also became a poignant moment for Nicks to honor her late bandmate Christine McVie. McVie, who passed away in December 2022 following a stroke while battling cancer, would have turned 81 that day. Addressing the crowd, Nicks expressed her grief, saying, “Christine was my girl, and she loved all of us. Today was her birthday. All of you have helped me get through her death, and I want you to know how much I appreciate it.”
Nicks went on to thank Styles, telling him, “Harry, I thank you, we thank you!”
The emotional tributes didn’t end there. Nicks also honored her late friend Tom Petty during the performance. Petty had shared the Hyde Park stage with Nicks in 2017, just months before his death from a heart attack at age 66. As images of Petty and Nicks were projected on stage, Nicks performed his classic hit “Free Fallin’” and told fans, “This is a special day for many reasons. I feel his presence here. I know he’s with us, and he’s happy with me being here.”
Stevie Nicks’ Hyde Park performance not only celebrated her musical legacy but also became a moment of deep reflection and tribute to the influential figures she has lost along the way.
