Jalal Abu Tuhin, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy at Karbala University, secured a gold medal at the International Inventors and Innovators Forum in Nuremberg, Germany, held from October 26 to 28, 2024.
Abu Tuhin’s award-winning invention focuses on the creation of antioxidant and antibacterial compounds through environmentally friendly green chemistry. These compounds, derived from natural extracts such as banana peels and willow bark, are designed to treat acne, promote healing for burns, and provide skin moisturization.
Currently, Abu Tuhin is collaborating with pharmacies and laboratories in Baghdad to advance the product’s development. He is also working towards gaining approval from Iraq’s Ministry of Health for its market release.
