Qatar Charity (QC), in partnership with Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital, successfully conducted a three-day medical camp in the Naseerabad district of Balochistan, Pakistan, offering cataract surgeries, eye check-ups, and comprehensive healthcare services. The initiative, which took place with the support of QC’s Pakistan office, aimed to address the pressing healthcare needs of vulnerable populations in the region.
The camp served 1,820 individuals, including the elderly, people with disabilities, women, and children. A total of 134 cataract surgeries were performed, and 734 pairs of eyeglasses were distributed to patients. In addition to these interventions, the medical team provided treatment for various eye conditions such as allergies, as well as general health support.
This medical initiative is part of Qatar Charity’s ongoing Ibsar (Eyesight) programme, which focuses on preventing blindness and improving eye health for vulnerable communities. The programme offers free medical check-ups, medication, and eye glasses, alongside performing cataract surgeries to improve access to vital eye care.
Beyond its eye health services, the camp also promoted broader public health initiatives, including personal hygiene, environmental health, and preventive care measures for eye health.
Local authorities expressed their gratitude for Qatar Charity’s efforts. Munir Ahmed Khan Kakar, Deputy Commissioner of Naseerabad, commended the charity’s initiative, emphasizing the relief it brought to the local population. “I urge Qatar Charity to expand its health interventions in the region,” he said, underscoring the organization’s significant role in supporting flood victims and marginalized communities through its ongoing projects.
Qatar Charity continues to build on its commitment to addressing health and humanitarian needs in Pakistan and beyond, with a particular focus on vulnerable and underserved populations.
