SZA, the Grammy-winning artist behind the hit song “Snooze,” has admitted that undergoing a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) was not the life-changing experience she had hoped for. In a candid interview for its December issue, the 35-year-old singer revealed her frustrations with the cosmetic procedure, stating, “I’m so mad I did that s–t.”
The decision to get the BBL came after SZA struggled to see results from working out in early 2022. “I gained all this weight from being immobile while recovering and trying to preserve the fat. It was just so stupid,” she said. Reflecting on the experience, SZA confessed that the procedure, in hindsight, was “super unnecessary” and that she realized there were more important aspects of her life to focus on, like her mental health.
“I need to get my f–king mental health together,” she explained. “Not to say you can’t do those things simultaneously, just, for me, I realize wherever you go, there you’ll be.”
Despite her regret over the decision to alter her body, SZA expressed gratitude for her appearance, particularly her enhanced physique. “But I love my butt. Don’t get me wrong. My booty looks nice,” she said. “And I’m grateful that it looks pretty much… I don’t know, sometimes natural, but I don’t even care. It’s something that I wanted. I’m enjoying it. I love shaking it.”
Looking to the future, SZA hasn’t ruled out the possibility of more cosmetic procedures. “It doesn’t matter. I’ll do a whole bunch more shit just like it if I want to before I’m f–king dead because this body is temporary,” she added.
The artist, who addressed the subject of body enhancements in her 2022 song “SOS,” has long been open about her decision to undergo cosmetic surgery. On the track, she sings, “So classic, that ass so fat, it look natural, it’s not.”
This marks the second time SZA has spoken openly about her BBL, having shared her thoughts in a May 2023 interview where she humorously referred to her enhanced figure as a purse. “It’s just there to enhance whatever else,” she explained. “And that’s why I paid for it, because it works all by itself.”
