In a candid interview, television host Andy Cohen shared his thoughts on Botox and cosmetic procedures, asserting that he has remained completely natural despite pressure from the late Joan Rivers to consider them.
Speaking on the “How to Fail” podcast with Elizabeth Day, the 56-year-old Cohen reflected on his career, beauty standards, and his decision to forgo cosmetic enhancements. While discussing his hosting role on Watch What Happens Live, Cohen revealed that Rivers, a close friend, often urged him to try Botox.
“I’ve never even had Botox,” Cohen confirmed during the interview on November 20. “Joan Rivers, before she died, used to beg me to get Botox,” he added, noting that despite her encouragement, he has never been tempted to alter his appearance.
Cohen also contrasted himself with other male talk show hosts, most of whom are either his age or younger. “Every guy I know who’s hosting a TV show has had Botox,” he remarked. “I look at their foreheads and think, ‘Your forehead does not move.'” He humorously added, “How about that? The gay guy is the one that doesn’t have Botox! Wait a minute,” alluding to the expectation that he, too, might undergo cosmetic procedures.
While Cohen remains firm in his decision not to pursue Botox, he acknowledged that it’s not off the table entirely. “I haven’t done it yet. It’s not something that I think I need to do. I don’t know who I would be doing it for,” he said, suggesting that he might reconsider in the future. “I will probably do it soon, maybe. I don’t know.”
Reflecting on the broader culture of plastic surgery, Cohen recounted a humorous encounter with a group of young men who had undergone extensive procedures. “I said to my friend who brought them, ‘This is like Botched,'” he recalled. “Your generation, what are you doing to yourselves? Like, you’re handsome young men. Stop this.” He emphasized that people need to be mindful of the choices they make regarding their appearance, adding, “I think people need to get a hold of themselves.”
