A royal decree has approved a new law to transform the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital into an independent non-profit organization, now named the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital and Research Center. This new entity will operate under the auspices of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC).
Minister of State, Council of Ministers member, and CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, Eng. Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Sultan, expressed his gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support in establishing the hospital’s new structure.
The move aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which seeks to bolster the non-profit health sector, enhancing its efficiency, and positioning the Kingdom as a global leader in eye health, research, and training.
Al Sultan emphasized that King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital and Research Center is already a global pioneer in ophthalmology, providing vital services not only within Saudi Arabia but across the world. He highlighted the hospital’s significant contributions to health care, education, research, and the preservation of eyesight, underscoring its role in strengthening the Kingdom’s health sector.
The transformation of the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, alongside similar changes at King Saud University and King Faisal Specialist Hospital, demonstrates a clear focus on improving health services within the Kingdom and fostering collaboration among institutions. These efforts are central to achieving Saudi Arabia’s ambitious goals, according to Al Sultan.
The approval of the founding law for the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital and Research Center underscores the leadership’s commitment to advancing healthcare, particularly in the field of eye care.
