Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, in collaboration with Aayush Eye Clinic & Lasik Center Chembur, has introduced the WaveLight FS200 Femtosecond Laser System, a cutting-edge technology designed to enhance precision in refractive eye surgeries such as LASIK. The new system, officially launched on December 17 in Chembur, is regarded as one of the most advanced tools for performing delicate corneal surgeries.
The femtosecond laser procedure is a non-invasive, laser-based treatment that corrects common vision impairments like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. By creating a precise flap in the cornea, the system reshapes the cornea using a secondary laser, with the flap being repositioned afterward to facilitate natural healing.
Unlike traditional LASIK, which involves a mechanical blade to create the corneal flap, the WaveLight FS200 operates with exceptional accuracy and without the need for cutting. This method enhances the customization and precision of the procedure, while minimizing patient discomfort. The system is also known for its minimal invasiveness, offering a quick and virtually painless treatment experience.
Mr. Rahul Agarwal, COO of Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital, emphasized the hospital’s commitment to advancing patient care. “With 15 hospitals in Mumbai and 26 across Maharashtra, we are dedicated to improving patient outcomes,” he said. “The FS200 Femtosecond laser has significantly increased our ability to provide high-quality refractive surgeries, enhancing the experience for our patients.”
Dr. Nita Shah, Head of Clinical Services at Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital in Chembur, highlighted the system’s unparalleled precision and speed. “The WaveLight FS200 can create a standard 9mm corneal flap in just six seconds, making it the fastest flap-creation laser platform available,” she explained. “This technology ensures a completely blade-free LASIK experience, as the femtosecond laser uses tiny bubbles to create the flap with extraordinary accuracy, eliminating the need for a cutting blade.”
Dr. Shah further noted that the system’s rapid operation reduces overall procedure time and lowers energy requirements, making the process more efficient. Additionally, it ensures consistent flap thickness, which is crucial for preventing complications in post-operative recovery. “The WaveLight FS200 ensures long-term safety, efficacy, and stability, offering remarkable reliability in refractive treatments,” she added.
With this innovation, Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital continues to set new standards in the field of eye care, solidifying its role as a leader in providing advanced laser treatments in India.
