York Region Public Health inspectors have ordered a Vaughan-based personal service business to cease offering certain services after a recent inspection revealed multiple health violations.
AP Medical Nelly, located at 8760 Jane St., Unit 302, in Concord, was inspected twice in early December. The facility, which provides cosmetic treatments such as Botox, fillers, and skin boosters, was included in a roundup of businesses charged under the Health Protection and Promotion Act during the week of Dec. 9 to 15.
The business was cited for a range of infractions during a complaint inspection on Dec. 6, including:
- Failing to notify public health at least 14 days before beginning operations.
- Not collecting client contact information prior to administering services.
- Lack of hot and cold running water under pressure.
- Failure to ensure that handwashing sinks were continuously supplied with potable water.
- Inadequate hand-drying provisions near handwashing sinks.
- Insufficient cleaning and disinfection protocols for reusable equipment.
- Improper use of sharps from previously opened or damaged packaging.
- Failure to prevent cross-contamination in the storage and dispensing of products.
- Incorrect use of disinfectants, with failure to adhere to proper contact times and concentrations.
- Inadequate record-keeping for invasive procedures.
- Absence of expiry dates and lot numbers on single-use disposable equipment.
- Failure to maintain sanitary conditions and protect against health hazards.
As a result, the business was ordered to immediately halt the specified services. A follow-up inspection on Dec. 9 did not lift the service suspension.
York Region Public Health conducts regular inspections of personal service settings, in accordance with Ontario’s Public Health Standards for Infection Prevention and Control Protocol, 2019. Inspections ensure compliance with the Personal Service Settings Regulation 136/18, which aims to safeguard the health and safety of clients.
