Ophthalmology provider Newmedica has launched a new multimillion-pound eye clinic and surgical centre in Cleckheaton, Bradford, to cater to both NHS and private patients. The facility, which officially opened earlier this month, will offer a range of services including cataract surgery, oculoplastics, and YAG laser treatments.
The clinic is owned and managed by a team of experienced consultant ophthalmologists: Aidan Benson, Ahmed Bardan, Mohammed Mohyudin, Nabil El-Hindy, and Francesco Pillitteri, alongside operations director Stuart Cannonier. The facility is staffed by 18 employees, with plans for further recruitment to meet increasing demand.
Stuart Cannonier expressed excitement about the new clinic’s role in supporting the local community, stating, “We’re delighted to be helping the Bradford communities and surrounding areas with their eye care needs. Eye health is incredibly important to us all, and as with any medical condition, the more quickly something is treated, the better the outcome is likely to be.”
The new facility aims to alleviate pressure on the NHS by reducing waiting times and increasing the availability of eye care services. The clinic is focused on providing timely treatment to ensure more patients receive the care they need as quickly as possible.
Consultant and clinical lead Nabil El-Hindy emphasized the importance of collaboration with local optometrists and healthcare partners, saying, “In addition to the patients we see, we are enjoying working with local optometrists and other partners, ensuring that our joined-up working across the system provides patients with the treatment they need and deserve in a timely manner.”
