Jessel Taank is addressing her cosmetic enhancements and responding to recent comments from her Real Housewives of New York City co-star, Brynn Whitfield.
In an appearance on Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea show, Taank, 45, revealed her use of Botox and fillers, discussing her decision to tweak her appearance after seeing herself on television. She explained that watching herself on screen made her notice things she wanted to adjust, leading her to embrace cosmetic procedures.
“When you watch yourself on television, you notice everything,” Taank shared during the January 13 interview. “So I was like, ‘You know what? I’m just going to tweak a couple of things.’ And who doesn’t get Botox? Who doesn’t get a little filler here and there?”
Her comments come after Whitfield, 39, accused Taank of having “a different face” and “different teeth” for the cameras during a January 7 episode of RHONY. Taank, however, defended her choice to openly discuss her procedures and make no secret of her cosmetic enhancements.
“I’ve gotten Botox since I was 26. It is a game changer,” Taank explained, emphasizing that she doesn’t shy away from talking about her use of cosmetic procedures. “I’m not a gatekeeper, and I’m certainly not the type of person to be doing all these procedures and not talking about it. I don’t want people to ever feel like I’m doing things behind [closed doors].”
Taank also revealed her experiences with porcelain veneers, which were done by renowned celebrity dentist Dr. Victoria Veytsman. Reflecting on a childhood accident that led to the need for dental reconstruction, she recounted, “When I was a kid, I was running by a swimming pool on vacation, slipped, and slammed my mouth on the concrete. I had to get cosmetic resurfacing or reconstruction on my teeth.”
Despite the openness regarding her cosmetic work, Taank shared that tensions have risen between her and Whitfield following the latter’s behind-the-back comments. Taank revealed that the trust between them is broken and would require significant effort to rebuild.
“There’s going to be a lot of work that has to be done to get her trust back,” Taank said, hinting at the challenges ahead in their friendship.
The Real Housewives of New York City airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
