One of Brazil’s most important models and influencers, Lygia Fazio, has died at the age of 40 after several complications while undergoing cosmetic surgery.
She died of a stroke during the operation in which she was having industrial silicone and polymethylmethacrylate applied to her buttocks, and the family shared the sad news through her Instagram profile.
“Friends, unfortunately our warrior has crossed over to the other side,” a statement posted on Instagram by her family said.
“I will soon communicate here the times of her farewell.
“We thank you once again for all the support. I ask you to understand our timing, we cannot answer all messages.
“Besides, the information about what happened has already been explained here. It is not necessary to explain all the details now. Respect our pain.”
Polymethylmethacrylate, or PMMA, is what caused her problems. It is a substance that must be treated by professionals and must be injected in small doses, but it is forbidden in buttocks and breasts and can be fatal.
If there are flaws in the process, the microspheres of the material are dispersed throughout the fat and adhere to the tissues.
Dangerous substances spread throughout the model’s body, causing her death as generated several infections that led to this unfortunate outcome.
The model was a regular user of aesthetic operations and the last one was on her backside.
The main problem is that she underwent the surgeries in a clandestine and unrecognized clinic.
She was hospitalized three weeks before her death, although it was not the first time it happened to her.
In 2022, she had to be hospitalized for 100 days because they had to remove fillers from various parts of her body.
