Sarah Jessica Parker is opening up about plastic surgery, revealing that it has crossed her mind in the past, but that she thinks it may be too late to undergo cosmetic surgery.
During a recent interview with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show, the actress shared her thoughts on how society views women as they age, the double standard for men in the entertainment industry and the pressure to maintain a youthful appearance.
“I honestly think I missed out on the facelift,” Parker said. “That would be like the thing for me. Like an old-fashioned good one that you have when you’re like 44.” Stern went on to ask if she was considering having the procedure, to which she admitted she was unsure.
She also spoke about the online comments and media attention following the announcement of the ‘Sex and the City’ revival, sharing that many focused on the ageing aspect of the cast and characters. “You can understand why people would make that choice, because there’s so much emphasis – especially with women and especially with women – on looks,” she explained.
“Even last year when we first went on the air with the new season, there were just so many endless articles about aging and aging gracefully and, you know, Sarah Jessica’s hair is grey. And I was like, “First of all, she’s not. But who cares? I’m sitting next to Andy Cohen, who has grey hair on his head, and you didn’t even mention that,'” Parker explained, adding that she understands “why women feel like there’s so much talk and opinions. I don’t think it’s wrong. I think people should do whatever they feel like … it makes them feel better when they walk out the door, frankly.
