Mumbai, February 20, 2024 – Renowned actress Ayesha Takia, best known for her roles in movies like “Wanted” and “Taarzan,” recently found herself in the midst of social media scrutiny after her rare public appearance outside Mumbai airport. The actress, who has been away from the limelight for several years, faced criticism from netizens who deemed her “unrecognizable” and accused her of undergoing plastic surgery.
In response to the online backlash, Takia took to her Instagram handle on February 18 to address the criticism with a lengthy statement. The actress expressed her indifference to the opinions circulating about her looks and clarified that she had more pressing matters on her mind.
Takia revealed in her post, “Need to say this, rushed to Goa two days ago… had a medical emergency in my family… my sister has literally been in the hospital. Amidst all this, I remember being stopped by paps and posing for them for basically a few seconds before flying off.”
She continued to share her frustration with the focus on her appearance, stating, “Turns out there are no other important issues in the country except dissecting my looks… been bombarded by viral ridiculous opinions of how people think I should have looked and don’t. Literally get over me yaar.”
Addressing the rumors of a potential comeback, Takia made it clear that she has zero interest in returning to the film industry. “I have zero interest in doing any films or any comeback like people are saying. I’m living my life happily, never want to be in the limelight, not interested in any fame, don’t wanna be in any film… so chill… please feel free to not care about me at all,” she emphasized.
In the viral airport photos and videos, Ayesha was seen wearing a dark blue printed suit with her hair open. Despite the criticism, the actress appeared composed as she waved and posed for the paparazzi.
Takia concluded her Instagram post with a powerful message, “Expecting a girl who’s mostly been seen in her teens to look identical even after 15 years… how unrealistic and ridiculous are these people… lol, please find better things to do with your time rather than pick apart good-looking women.”
The actress, who was last seen in the 2011 movie “Mod,” directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, has maintained a low profile since her marriage in 2009. With a firm stance against the unwarranted scrutiny, Ayesha Takia urged individuals to redirect their energies toward positive pursuits.
