AECOS, a non-profit 501(c)(6) ophthalmic society dedicated to advancing vision care and enhancing patients’ quality of life through Innovation, Education, and Advocacy, bestows the Dulaney Award annually to recognize ophthalmologists who have made significant contributions to the field of ophthalmology, thereby advancing patient care and pioneering innovative technologies and techniques that improve outcomes.

Together with his colleagues, Dr. Solomon established Operation Sight in 2011, a non-profit organization offering free surgery to uninsured residents of South Carolina affected by cataracts or retinal disorders. Under Dr. Solomon’s leadership, Operation Sight has expanded its reach nationwide.
Currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer at US Eye, a physician-led network of eye care practices spanning the Southeastern United States, Dr. Solomon also practices as a LASIK and Laser Cataract Surgeon at Carolina Eyecare Physicians in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Dr. Solomon, a former President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), is extensively involved in research and has served as an investigator for numerous FDA clinical trials. He was among the pioneering surgeons worldwide to perform laser-assisted cataract surgery and the first ophthalmologist in South Carolina to conduct all-laser LASIK and topography-guided LASIK procedures. Dr. Solomon has consistently earned recognition as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, a Top 250 Innovator by Premier Surgeon Magazine, and has been frequently honored as “Best Laser Surgeon” in local community award programs.
