An investigation into a plastic surgeon in Florida has uncovered disturbing allegations, including unwanted procedures on patients and delayed emergency response during an operation that led to his wife’s tragic death, a report revealed.
The Florida Department of Health took swift action, issuing an emergency restriction of Ben Brown’s medical license on May 2, following the death of his wife, Hillary Brown, just over five months ago.
According to a detailed 30-page report from the Department of Health, Brown’s medical practice, Restore Plastic Surgery in Gulf Breeze, was described as “dirty and poorly maintained” by a medical assistant.
While Brown’s family declined to comment on specific details due to the ongoing investigation, they expressed concern over the accuracy of the allegations and emphasized Brown’s desire to defend himself through a proper hearing process.
The state report contains troubling accounts from patients, including claims of unwanted Brazilian butt lifts that left them disfigured and in constant pain. One patient alleged that Brown performed the procedure without consent, stating that he believed she would “love it.”
Another patient described a harrowing experience of undergoing a procedure she explicitly declined, only to have it performed against her wishes, leading to complications and further distress.
The report also sheds light on Hillary Brown’s involvement in the practice, highlighting her role in administering treatments and even performing surgical procedures, despite not being a licensed healthcare provider.
Tragically, on the day of her fatal operation in November 2023, Hillary Brown took on multiple responsibilities, including preparing her own anesthesia solution and ultimately succumbing to complications during surgery.
Ben Brown’s handling of the emergency has come under scrutiny, with allegations of delayed response and inadequate medical intervention during his wife’s critical condition. Witnesses reported a significant delay in calling 911 and administering proper care, leading to tragic consequences.
As a result of the investigation, Brown’s medical license has been restricted, limiting him to performing surgeries only in specific hospital settings under supervision.
The fate of Restore Plastic Surgery remains uncertain, with indications suggesting its closure.
Gulf Breeze, situated in the Florida Panhandle, now grapples with the aftermath of these disturbing revelations as authorities continue their investigation into the matter.
