Hybrid cosmetic products are on the rise as consumers increasingly favor color cosmetics that offer skincare benefits.
Global Trends in Skincare-Infused Cosmetics
According to the Mintel Global New Products Database, there has been a significant increase in the global launches of color cosmetics featuring skincare benefits. The percentage of such products mentioning skincare benefits rose from 15% to 26% between October 2018 and September 2028. This trend reflects a growing consumer preference for products that enhance both appearance and skin health.
Consumer Preferences and Market Insights
“The desire for healthy-looking skin, alongside the growing bare skin trend, will continue to drive demand for cosmetic products with skincare benefits,” said Chayapat Ratchatawipasanan, Principal Beauty & Personal Care Analyst at Mintel Reports Thailand. Ratchatawipasanan highlighted that these hybrid products offer a natural look suitable for everyday wear, appealing particularly to Gen Z, while also addressing the skincare needs of older consumers.
Leading Categories in Skincare-Infused Cosmetic Launches
Foundation stands out as the leading category in new product launches featuring skincare claims. Between October 2022 and September 2023, 42% of these new product launches were foundations. Following foundation, lip makeup and concealer accounted for 20% and 15% of the new launches, respectively.
The surge in hybrid cosmetics underscores a broader industry shift towards products that bridge the gap between makeup and skincare, catering to a diverse range of consumer needs and preferences.
