Bollywood actor Vijay Varma, currently promoting his upcoming Netflix series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, directed by Anubhav Sinha and co-starring Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, and Dia Mirza, has recently opened up about his experience with vitiligo.Varma shared his personal journey with the skin condition, which causes loss of pigment in patches. He expressed that although he was initially concerned about how it might impact his acting career, success has alleviated his worries.
Varma explained, “I didn’t make a big deal out of it. It is just a cosmetic thing and not something that can change the course of your life. I used to worry when I was out of work, but success has made it less of a concern.”
The actor also discussed his choice to cover his vitiligo for film roles to avoid distracting from his performance, though he has always been open about it in public appearances. He commented, “I cover it up for movies because it can be distracting, but I’ve never felt the need to do so in public. Today’s generation is very discerning and responsible.”
On a personal note, Varma addressed his relationship with actress Tamannaah Bhatia. The couple, who began their romance during the filming of Lust Stories 2, faced media speculation after a New Year’s Eve kiss was leaked online. They eventually confirmed their relationship, with Varma explaining their decision to go public. In a recent appearance on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube show Unplugged, Varma shared, “We were both aligned on the fact that if we like to spend time together, there’s no need to hide it. I don’t like being restricted or hiding my feelings.”
Varma’s candid reflections on both his personal and professional life highlight his approach to handling public scrutiny and maintaining authenticity.
