In today’s fast-paced world, maintaining an effective skincare routine can be challenging, whether you’re managing a 9-5 job, working from home, or handling household responsibilities. This often leads to neglect of skincare, resulting in dull and lifeless skin.
Experts suggest that a simplified skincare regimen using multitasking products can help keep skin healthy and radiant, even with a busy schedule.
Prachi Bhandari, co-founder and Head of Research at Aminu Wellness, highlights the benefits of products with multiple active ingredients. “Given our increasingly busy lives, multi-active products are ideal for addressing various skin concerns such as hydration, aging, and brightening with minimal effort,” Bhandari explains.
Bhandari advocates a three-step routine: cleansing, applying a serum or moisturizer suited to your skin type, and finishing with sunscreen. For nighttime care, she recommends a similar routine with the addition of exfoliation once a week. She notes that using a pH-balancing face wash can eliminate the need for a separate toner, simplifying the process.
Dr. Rashmi Shetty, a Cosmetic Dermatologist at Ra Skin & Aesthetics, provides an alternative approach. She suggests starting the day with a face wash and then using nourishing oils. A gentle oil massage can relax the skin and offer anti-inflammatory benefits, and can be washed away easily during a shower. Shetty emphasizes the importance of sunscreen and moisturizer to complete what she calls the “Dawn Skincare” routine.
For the evening, or “Dusk Skincare,” Shetty recommends cleansing followed by a serum with ingredients like Niacinamide, Vitamin C, or Arbutin. She also suggests experimenting with professional-grade masks and incorporating a night care routine for skin rejuvenation and repair.
Dr. Monica Kapoor, Director at Flawless Cosmetic Clinic & ILACAD Institute, asserts that effective skincare doesn’t have to be time-consuming. “Maintaining a healthy complexion can be achieved efficiently,” Kapoor says. She advises using a gentle cleanser in the morning, followed by a lightweight moisturizer with broad-spectrum SPF. For quick midday touch-ups, Kapoor suggests a hydrating mist and blotting papers to refresh skin without disrupting makeup.
Kapoor also stresses the importance of a double cleanse in the evening to remove makeup and pollutants, followed by a targeted serum and a nourishing night cream to lock in moisture.
