Actor and K-pop idol Hyeri recently found herself the subject of plastic surgery speculation following a viral image from a 2023 event. In response, she has provided clarity on the situation through a candid video on her YouTube channel.
In the video, Hyeri revisited some of her most memorable looks over her decade-long career, accompanied by her makeup artists, PR manager, and sister. The discussion highlighted a particular appearance from the W Korea breast cancer awareness event, where she wore a black mini dress with mid-length hair featuring bangs—a look that ignited the cosmetic surgery rumors.
Hyeri and her team critically assessed the viral look, with Hyeri candidly stating, “I was really at my worst. My eyes looked completely puffy that day. The lenses were too big, and the hair looks too strange.” Her team noted that the outfit seemed constricting, especially around the neckline.
Delving into the context behind the look, Hyeri explained that her hair and makeup were done at separate locations and that the outfit was sourced from a different store. “It felt like a transitional period at that time,” she reflected. Addressing the fan comments and speculation about plastic surgery, she humorously remarked, “Even I think it looks like I did.”
Hyeri first gained fame as a member of the popular K-pop group Girl’s Day before transitioning into acting with her debut in the SBS Weekend drama Tasty Life in 2012. She rose to prominence with her leading role in tvN’s acclaimed series Reply 1988 (2015), solidifying her reputation as a skilled actress.
Over the years, she has captivated audiences with her performances in various K-dramas, including Two Cops (2017), Record of Youth (2020), My Roommate is a Gumiho (2021), Moonshine (2021), and May I Help You? (2022). Most recently, she returned to the big screen in the sports film Victory.
