Shirley Ballas, the renowned judge from Strictly Come Dancing, has revealed a renewed sense of confidence following a series of non-surgical beauty treatments aimed at rejuvenating her skin. At 64 years old, Ballas admitted to feeling “insecure” about her appearance prior to these enhancements.
Last year, the dancer opted for a non-surgical facelift and has since added monthly NeoGen nitrogen plasma sessions to her skincare regimen. These treatments are designed to lift sagging skin and rejuvenate her complexion. “When I went into my 60s, I was seriously considering a facelift,” she confessed. “Looking in the mirror, I saw dull, lifeless skin, sun spots, and little spider veins on my nose.”
Ballas expressed how the visible effects of aging made her anxious, particularly given her prominent public profile. “Like anyone else, I want to look my best at my age. However, maintaining great skin becomes increasingly challenging as we age. I was eager to find a non-surgical method to revitalize my skin,” she shared.
The transformation in her mindset has been profound, thanks in part to the sessions conducted by Dr. Johanna Ward at her Harley Street clinic. “There’s a famous Beatles song that goes, ‘Will you still need me, will you still feed me when I’m 64?’ I turned 64 last week (September 6), and I feel like I’ve got a new lease on life,” Ballas remarked.
Dr. Ward, who has been treating Ballas every six weeks, explained that the NeoGen treatment works by utilizing super-heated nitrogen gas to stimulate the skin’s natural collagen and elastin production. “This effectively tricks the skin into boosting levels of these essential proteins, which helps prevent sagging and imparts a plump, youthful appearance,” she noted.
As Ballas embraces her revitalized look, she has returned to the spotlight for the latest season of Strictly Come Dancing, featuring contestants like Nick Knowles, JB Gill, Tasha Ghouri, and Pete Wicks vying for the coveted Glitterball trophy. With her longstanding role as head judge since 2017, Ballas has no intention of stepping down anytime soon. “You’d have to shovel me out of my chair. I’m going to sit in that chair for as long as they’ll have me!. ”
