TV presenter and comedian Julia Morris, 56, has shared a health warning on Instagram after undergoing surgery to remove a significant skin cancer. In her post to her 307,000 followers, she reflected on her sun safety habits, stating, “How is your 50+ (sunscreen) working out for you? I wish I had used it more in my life.”
Morris revealed that another large skin cancer was removed this week, humorously noting that she will need to improve her eyebrow-drawing skills. She emphasized the dangers of the Australian sun, admitting, “I lived like a pig on a spit in my 20s” and is now facing the consequences. She encouraged her followers to “slip slop slap” and highlighted the importance of early detection.
In her message, Morris thanked Dr. Sheridan and the team at Phoenix Dermatology and the Avenue Hospital for their care. Her post drew an outpouring of support, with fellow celebrities like Bindi Irwin and Dr. Chris Brown sending well wishes and encouragement.
Morris is not alone in raising awareness about skin cancer; Sunrise co-host Natalie Barr recently revealed her own skin cancer diagnosis after a persistent pimple on her nose was identified as cancerous. She urged viewers to regularly check their skin and seek professional advice when necessary.
Experts recommend being vigilant for changes such as new moles, moles that change in size or color, and any that become itchy, bleed, or develop lumps. Early detection remains crucial for effective treatment.
