Mina Starsiak Hawk, known for her role on HGTV’s “Good Bones,” has undergone a significant transformation since her early appearances on the show, especially following her departure in 2023. Alongside her co-host and estranged mother, Karen E. Laine, Mina has openly discussed her extensive cosmetic procedures, including a comprehensive “mommy makeover” in 2020 after giving birth to her youngest child, Charlotte. This makeover included surgeries such as liposuction, a tummy tuck, and breast augmentation. In 2021, she expressed her feelings about the decision, stating, “I feel like myself again. I feel strong and I feel attractive to myself.”
The impetus for her surgery stemmed from developing diastasis recti during her pregnancy with Charlotte, which resulted in weakened abdominal muscles. Mina revealed that she had a four-and-a-half-inch separation in her abs, making surgery the most viable option for recovery. Reflecting on her postpartum struggles, she admitted, “I just didn’t feel like I was going to be able to work out and get this back to where I felt strong, like myself.”
Despite potential judgment, Mina has no regrets about her choices. In 2021, she encouraged others to prioritize their well-being, stating, “Whether it’s surgery or a push-up bra… get it. Whatever makes you feel strong and powerful and beautiful.”
Her cosmetic journey did not stop at breast implants and a tummy tuck; she also underwent a butt lift after losing over 20 pounds through workouts with her husband, personal trainer Steve Hawk. In a November 2023 episode of her “Mina AF” podcast, she shared that despite her fitness, she was left with loose skin on her legs and a less firm appearance to her backside. She emphasized that it took her a year to make the decision to undergo this procedure.
Additionally, Mina had eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, to address excess skin around her right eye, which had been a concern for three years. She underwent the procedure with local anesthesia, admitting it wasn’t medically necessary but something she desired.
While she denied using fillers in her lips and cheeks—attributing her fullness to her natural features—Mina acknowledged receiving occasional Botox injections. Proud of her transformation, she stated, “I want people to know I’ve had implants. I got filler in my butt. They do make me happy.”
Through her journey, Mina Starsiak Hawk remains a figure of empowerment, advocating for self-acceptance and the importance of personal choices in the pursuit of happiness.
