October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Samra Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery is set to host its Third Annual Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day on Wednesday, October 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. at its Old Bridge office. With additional locations in Holmdel, Freehold, and Summit, the event aims to educate and empower women regarding their breast reconstruction options following mastectomy.
BRA Day is part of an international initiative focused on raising awareness and celebrating the resilience of women affected by breast cancer. The event provides a supportive environment for current and former patients to connect with each other and share their experiences.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in informal discussions, share personal stories, and ask questions in a welcoming atmosphere. This gathering also allows patients to meet their doctors, who will be available to offer insights into the latest breast reconstruction techniques and answer any queries.
Guests can look forward to an evening filled with networking, expert insights, and community connection, all aimed at fostering hope and awareness for those navigating their breast cancer journeys. Interested individuals are encouraged to RSVP online.
About the BRA Campaign
The Breast Reconstruction Awareness Campaign is sponsored by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and The Plastic Surgery Foundation (The PSF). It receives financial support from various corporations, institutions, private practices, and individuals. The campaign’s mission is to educate, engage, and empower women to make informed decisions regarding breast reconstruction following a breast cancer diagnosis.
The campaign emphasizes that the breast cancer treatment journey remains open until women are fully informed of their reconstruction options. BRA Day promotes public education, patient care, and research initiatives. Launched in Canada in 2011, the event now occurs annually in October.
This collaborative effort includes contributions from plastic surgeons specializing in breast surgery, nurse navigators, corporate partners, and breast cancer support groups. On Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day, these organizations and the breast cancer community raise awareness through media events, lectures, fundraising activities, and community gatherings.
Through a combination of national and local events, the campaign aims to reach millions, ensuring that women and their families are informed about breast reconstruction options available after mastectomy.
