Lindsay Lohan made a striking return to the public eye during Paris Fashion Week earlier this month, where style commentators hailed her appearance as “an iconic comeback.” The 38-year-old actress captivated onlookers at the Balenciaga show, donning a black sequined gown, a leather jacket, and a sleek ponytail. However, the most talked-about aspect of her appearance was her noticeably altered facial features.
Many fans attributed Lohan’s refreshed look to her newfound sobriety, which followed numerous stints in rehab and legal troubles. The actress, who welcomed her first child, a son named Luai, in July 2023, has been open about her journey toward recovery. Yet, some observers speculated that her transformation might be the result of cosmetic enhancements. One Reddit user commented, “These pics don’t even look like her. She is beautiful, but this isn’t her face.”
Social media buzzed with debates regarding Lohan’s rejuvenated appearance, with some fans suggesting her sobriety may have played a role in her seemingly younger look. This discussion escalated when cosmetic treatment expert Dr. Johnny Betteridge shared his insights in a viral TikTok video, where he analyzed her transformation.
Dr. Betteridge noted that Lohan had previously struggled with poorly executed injectables, stating, “Look at her face from over a decade ago; we can see signs of over-filling, predominantly in the cheeks and lips, and her nose appeared broader and less defined.” He suggested that her recent look is likely the result of further procedures, coupled with possible weight loss.
Recent social media posts from Lohan show her features appearing more defined, as the swelling from earlier procedures seems to have subsided. “Fast forward a few years, and she has the characteristic features of over-filling, where her face looks puffy and uniform,” Dr. Betteridge added, emphasizing the marked change in her appearance.
The cosmetic expert praised Lohan’s current look, asserting, “This is what good surgical and non-surgical work looks like.” He explained that achieving her new appearance would require not only weight loss but also the dissolution of previous fillers and more precise reapplication in her mid-face, cheeks, and lips.
From a surgical perspective, Dr. Betteridge suggested that Lohan likely underwent an upper blepharoplasty, which reconstructs the upper eyelid. “You can tell as her eyes are more open and there is less skin laxity in this area. Her nose is much sharper and more defined, likely due to a rhinoplasty,” he said. He concluded that despite the additional procedures, Lohan’s face appears more natural than it did a few years ago.
The TikTok clip featuring Dr. Betteridge’s analysis has garnered over 100,000 views, eliciting mixed reactions from fans. One viewer exclaimed, “God, she looks tremendous! So happy for her,” while another criticized the extent of the changes, saying, “I’m glad she’s happy and healthy, but a metric fuckton of surgery is not aging like fine wine.”
Lohan first captured Hollywood’s attention with her role in The Parent Trap in 1998, later achieving major success with Mean Girls in 2004. Following her long absence from the screen, Lohan is set to return in the upcoming sequel to Freaky Friday, titled Freakier Friday, which will premiere next year.
Recently, Lohan addressed the speculation surrounding her appearance, humorously remarking that she finds it amusing that people think she is “aging in reverse.” She downplayed rumors of cosmetic work, stating, “I just take care of my skin.”
