The Fred Hollows Foundation has extended its support to the Khyber Eye Foundation, aiming to expand its eye care services to underserved areas. This proposal was made during a visit by Ms. Rasheen Chaudhry, Global Advisor at the Fred Hollows Foundation, and Dr. Farooq Awan, Country Manager, to the Khyber Eye Foundation. The visit focused on exploring future collaboration in ophthalmic care.
The visit emphasized the shared commitment between both organizations to combat preventable blindness and improve eye care services throughout Peshawar. The visitors were warmly received by the Khyber Eye Foundation’s management team, which included Chairman Muhammad Adnan Jaleel and senior board members such as Khalid Sultan Khwaja and Yawer Naseer.
Following a tour of the hospital’s advanced facilities, the delegation participated in a meeting led by Administrator Obaidullah Siddiqui. During the meeting, Siddiqui discussed the foundation’s major projects and stressed the importance of the visit, highlighting the shared goal of providing top-tier eye care to underserved populations.
During the presentation, the Khyber Eye Foundation showcased its achievements, including thousands of successful cataract surgeries and a wide-reaching community outreach program. The foundation also outlined its future plans, which include establishing satellite clinics to enhance accessibility to eye care services.
Ms. Rasheen Chaudhry and Dr. Awan praised the Khyber Eye Foundation’s efforts, commending their commitment to delivering quality care. Dr. Awan announced that the Fred Hollows Foundation is ready to provide medical equipment and resources to support the expansion of the hospital’s services, particularly in rural areas.
The collaboration between the two organizations will focus on developing satellite clinics and further joint initiatives to improve eye care. The visit concluded with a symbolic exchange of gifts, reinforcing both organizations’ commitment to reducing preventable blindness and improving community health through enhanced cooperation.
