Khloé Kardashian recently revealed that she underwent facial injections nine months after having a cancerous tumor removed from her cheek in 2022. In a post on Snapchat dated October 11, the 40-year-old founder of Good American shared the details of her recovery, stating, “As a result of the surgery, and the tumor my incredible doctor removed, I ended up with an indentation in the side of my face. I waited nine months after surgery to get the indentation filled.”
Kardashian emphasized that she only proceeded with the injections after receiving medical clearance from her doctor, ensuring that “medically everything was safe.” Alongside her announcement, she posted before-and-after selfies highlighting the visible dent on the right side of her cheek, which was significantly reduced after her first round of fillers.
The reality star has a history of melanoma treatment, having undergone multiple procedures since she was 19 years old. In 2022, she revealed another skin patch was removed, prompting her to take action after noticing a small bump on her face. Initially dismissing it as a minor blemish, she decided to have it biopsied after it failed to improve. “A few days later, I was told I need to have an immediate operation to remove a tumor from my face,” she recounted on Instagram Stories. For the procedure, she sought out Dr. Garth Fisher, a well-respected surgeon in Beverly Hills and a close family friend.
Kardashian documented her experience with the tumor removal on season three of The Kardashians, sharing her journey through post-operative recovery. During a confessional, she expressed the gravity of her condition, saying, “Melanoma is deadly. This is way more serious than I anticipated it to be. At 19 years old, I had melanoma on my back, and I had a surgery to remove that as well, so I am pre-disposed to melanomas. Even those who are not, we should be checking all the time.”
She also highlighted the importance of skin care and regular medical check-ups. “I am someone who wears sunscreen every single day, religiously, so no one is exempt from these things. Please take this seriously and do regular self-exams as well as your annual checkups,” she urged.
In September 2023, Khloé shared progress photos on Instagram during her recovery. Reflecting on her diagnosis, she stated, “I never imagined that this tiny spec would turn into skin cancer, and I can’t fathom what could have possibly happened had I not gone to the doctor to get it looked at. Paying attention to our skin and changes in our skin and our body, no matter how small, is so important. There is no such thing as being too careful. You are your responsibility, baby! Take care of you.”
Kardashian has been open about her experience, responding to fan inquiries about her recovery and the bandage on her cheek. In February 2023, she reassured a concerned follower, saying, “I had a tumor removed from my face, but I’m totally OK. Thank you for asking.”
