Anne Hathaway, the acclaimed American actress and Academy Award winner, recently opened up about her views on plastic surgery, emphasizing the stigma surrounding discussions of the topic.
Hathaway noted that conversations about plastic surgery often provoke more defensiveness than discussions about personal lives. She reflected on her past comments from 2010, when she stated, “I have had the same smile since I was little. I don’t want Botox to erase it. When you are an actor, your face must reflect a personality. Otherwise, you are just a face.”
When asked if she still held the same beliefs, Hathaway responded, “It’s strange to comment on a sentence from fifteen years ago.” She acknowledged understanding the young woman who made that statement but admitted, “Today, she seems unbearable and moralizing to me.” She likened inquiries about plastic surgery to questions about one’s sex life, calling them “extremely intimate.”
The 41-year-old actress also discussed the immense pressure on celebrities to maintain perfect bodies in Hollywood, highlighting the challenges this poses for many in the industry.
Hathaway is currently generating excitement as she prepares to reprise her iconic role as Mia Thermopolis in the upcoming revival of The Princess Diaries, sparking a wave of nostalgia on social media.
