Veteran media personality and emerging reality TV star Betty Kyallo has urged the public to exercise caution when seeking cosmetic procedures. In a recent Instagram story, the prominent news anchor emphasized the importance of thorough research before opting for any surgical enhancements.
Kyallo particularly criticized social media influencers, advising them to vet products carefully before promoting them to their followers. “By the time we allow anyone to touch our bodies—whether they are plastic surgeons or even doctors—let’s make sure we do our research well,” she stated. She highlighted the abundance of qualified plastic surgeons available in the country, urging individuals not to settle for less than the best.
The seasoned TV host further encouraged people to be informed consumers, noting, “There are so many splendid professionals in our country; we just need to find them.” She warned against following trends blindly, advocating for a better understanding of cosmetic procedures. “Let’s keep off from things we don’t understand unless you get properly educated,” Kyallo added.
Her remarks come in the wake of a tragic incident involving a woman who reportedly lost her life due to alleged malpractice at a popular clinic in Nairobi. Content creator and entrepreneur Amira shared the heartbreaking news, revealing that the deceased, identified as Lucy, underwent liposuction at the facility where the doctor lacked proper qualifications.
“It is heartbreaking to lose someone as wonderful as Lucy due to negligence and malpractice by unqualified individuals performing plastic surgery procedures,” Amira stated. She explained that Lucy’s surgery resulted in a perforated intestine, leading to severe complications and ultimately her death.
Amira recounted Lucy’s distressing experience, noting that after being discharged from the clinic in significant pain, Lucy returned only to find that no doctor was available. She was subsequently rushed to Nairobi Hospital, where surgeons attempted to address the severe infection and multiple perforations in her intestines. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, Lucy succumbed to the complications just four days later.
Kyallo’s advocacy for caution reflects a growing concern about the risks associated with cosmetic procedures, especially in light of tragic outcomes stemming from inadequate medical practices.
