Lili Reinhart, best known for her role in Riverdale, is turning her personal battle with acne into a powerful initiative with the launch of her new skincare brand, Personal Day. Struggling with acne since the age of 12, Reinhart was frustrated by countless products that failed to deliver lasting results. After years of experimentation, she realized her skincare routine was filled with pore-clogging ingredients that only delayed clear skin. This led her to team up with CEO and co-founder Shelagh Wong to create a line that addresses both skin health and mental well-being.
“Creating Personal Day has been a dream come true,” says Wong. “We wanted to create a product we would actually use ourselves.” The brand’s mission centers on targeting the root causes of acne—clogged pores and bacteria—with a simple, effective three-step routine. To develop this system, Personal Day enlisted the expertise of triple-board-certified dermatologist Dr. Mamina Turegano and celebrity esthetician Sarah Ford.
The starter kit includes three key products: Full Clarity Cleansing Powder, Doing the Work Salicylic Acne Treatment, and Dive Deep Mevalonic Moisturizer. These products work together to gently exfoliate with BHAs such as Salicylic Acid and AHAs like Lactic Acid, while Zinc Hyaluronate targets and eliminates acne-causing bacteria. “We test every product to ensure nothing in it can clog pores,” explains Wong.
In addition to its clean, minimal ingredients, Personal Day stands out with its use of Mevalonic Acid, an ingredient that accelerates the body’s natural repair processes, boosting collagen and hyaluronic acid production. This superstar compound, featured in the Dive Deep Mevalonic Moisturizer and Everybody Stay Calm Recovery Mask, works alongside Azelaic Acid to reduce inflammation, flatten pimples, and promote skin healing.
Personal Day also emphasizes the importance of mental health in the acne treatment process. Dr. Courtney Tracy, a licensed psychologist and clinical social worker, is part of the brand’s advisory board, ensuring that the skincare line supports both physical and mental well-being. “A big part of our mission is to share Dr. Courtney’s expertise with our community,” says Wong. “Not everyone has access to world-class acne and mental health support, and Dr. Courtney has been instrumental in making that support accessible.” During the brand’s launch, Dr. Tracy co-hosted a fireside chat with Reinhart and Wong to discuss managing the emotional toll of acne.
Unlike many celebrity skincare ventures, Reinhart’s hands-on involvement sets Personal Day apart. “Lili is a true co-founder,” Wong asserts. “She’s been involved in every step—everything from brainstorming packaging ideas to shooting photos herself and even selecting ingredients that worked for her acne.”
Since its October launch, Personal Day has garnered a strong following on social media, amassing over 20,000 followers. Customers have praised the brand for its effective products, with some reporting rapid results. One user shared that their congestion bumps cleared in just two days, while another noted that their painful period pimples were no longer an issue since switching to Personal Day.
With its thoughtful formulation and focus on both physical and mental health, Personal Day is poised to make a lasting impact on the skincare industry.
