Ophthalmologists in Himachal Pradesh are gaining recognition for their exceptional contributions to eye care, elevating the quality of treatment across the region. The Himachal Pradesh Ophthalmological Society (HPOS), led by President Dr. Sandeep Mahajan, is at the forefront of this transformative initiative.
Dr. Mahajan, also the founder of SM Eye Hospital in Dharamsala’s Matour locality, expressed his pride in the society’s recent achievements. “Our mid-term conference in Hamirpur was a major success, showcasing the tremendous talent and commitment of our ophthalmologists. Over the past 18 months, we’ve held three conferences, each featuring presentations that are on par with national standards,” he said.
A key highlight of the initiative is the society’s outreach efforts to underserved communities. From remote regions like Bara Bhangal in Kangra to the far-flung corners of Chamba district, these dedicated medical professionals are offering nearly free eye care, including surgeries. Their altruism and dedication underscore the spirit of service that defines healthcare in Himachal Pradesh.
This initiative not only reflects the state’s progress in medical care but also emphasizes the unwavering commitment of these ophthalmologists to bring quality healthcare to even the most isolated communities.
