Grammy-nominated rapper Doechii has no tolerance for hate in her comment section, especially when it comes to personal choices regarding body enhancements.
In a TikTok video shared on December 8, the 26-year-old artist, whose real name is Jaylah Ji’mya Hickmon, addressed a fan’s comment that threatened to unfollow her if she ever underwent cosmetic surgery. While getting her makeup done, Doechii responded with a clear message: “I’m gonna keep it so real with you. You should already be out the door because I’ve already had cosmetic enhancements since like 2021.”
Doechii continued, urging viewers to rethink their approach to body shaming. “Y’all really have to stop normalizing making comments like these and just let women do whatever the f— they want to do with their bodies,” she added.
The comment in question was made under another TikTok video in which Doechii explained her use of face tape, a popular non-invasive beauty technique to reduce wrinkles and lift the face, according to Byrdie.
In a May 2023 appearance on the We Said What We Said with Ricky and Denzel podcast, Doechii opened up about her past plastic surgery, though she declined to specify the procedures. Co-host Denzel Dion praised her figure as “home-grown,” to which Doechii responded by denying any natural enhancements. While many fans speculated she had undergone a Brazilian butt lift (BBL), Doechii kept the details private.
“It’s nobody’s business,” Doechii remarked on her decision to not openly discuss her surgery. “We don’t have to lie, but we don’t have to scream it to the top of our lungs.”
As the conversation around cosmetic procedures continues to evolve, other celebrities have become more open about their surgeries. Stars like Real Housewives of Orange County’s Tamra Judge, Blac Chyna, and Nicki Minaj have all publicly addressed their procedures, whether it be for breast reductions or other body modifications.
SZA, another artist who has also been open about cosmetic surgery, recently shared her own reflections on getting a butt lift. The singer admitted that the procedure wasn’t essential, but added she doesn’t regret the choice. “I’ll do a whole bunch more s— just like it if I want to before I’m f—ing dead because this body is temporary,” SZA said in her December cover story for British Vogue.
As discussions on body image and cosmetic enhancements continue, Doechii’s message is clear: women should have the freedom to make choices about their bodies without fear of judgment.
