Davina McCall has opened up about her recovery journey after undergoing brain surgery to remove a benign tumour, revealing her decision to forgo Botox treatments in the future. The 57-year-old television presenter shared an intimate moment with fans on Instagram over the weekend, where her partner Michael Douglas gave her a much-needed haircut — the first since her surgery.
The couple, who have been together for five years, live-streamed the hairdressing session, with Michael providing tips and showing off his techniques. Throughout the clip, the pair chatted candidly about various topics, including Davina’s post-surgery healing and her decision to no longer use Botox.
As she displayed her surgery scar, Davina explained to her followers that while she had lost some hair after having children, her thick locks had thinned somewhat over time. “I used to have lots of hair, but I had babies,” she said. Michael also noted the scar from her recent surgery, sharing that she had lost a significant amount of hair during her recovery.
In response to a fan’s comment about Botox alternatives, Davina joked, “You are absolutely right. I’ve got lots of wrinkles in my forehead. I mean I can’t and I don’t have Botox. I have had it before, like in my frown lines.” The conversation turned playful when Michael quipped that he might have been a bit too rough while cutting her hair, prompting Davina to tease him, “Michael Douglas, you are naughty,” which sparked laughter from both of them.
The heartwarming session also offered insight into Davina’s recovery progress. She candidly shared that her scar had healed, although it was still “a bit crusty.” With her signature humor, she praised Michael for his efforts, saying perhaps she should “have brain surgery more often” if it meant receiving such tender care.
Earlier this week, Davina updated her followers about her health, reassuring them that she was feeling much better. “I’ve really, really, really felt miles better,” she said, adding that she had been enjoying time in London to celebrate Michael’s son’s birthday. She also clarified any confusion surrounding her recent appearance on The Masked Singer, explaining that photos showing her with a short, platinum pixie cut were taken before her surgery, as she was in peak health at the time.
As she continues her recovery, Davina plans to return to work in about a month, radiating positivity and gratitude for the support from her fans.
