Soldiers’ Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi attended the Free Cataract Surgery Week organized by Army Hospital (RR Hospital), Delhi, in collaboration with Military Hospital, Dehradun. The camp, which runs from December 24 to 27, offers free cataract screenings and surgeries for ex-servicemen and their families.
During his visit, Minister Joshi engaged with the ex-servicemen and their dependents, offering support and advice. He encouraged military officials to extend the reach of these medical camps to more remote areas of the state, ensuring that a larger number of veterans and their families can benefit from such initiatives.
“The services provided here are invaluable, and I believe setting up similar camps in rural areas will allow us to support even more ex-servicemen and their families,” Joshi remarked during the event. He also expressed his best wishes to the organizers for the successful completion of the camp.
Brigadier Sanjay Kumar Mishra, along with a team of specialist surgeons, is leading the initiative. The camp features advanced cataract surgeries utilizing state-of-the-art medical equipment and imported intraocular lenses. The surgeries, conducted with cutting-edge technology from Army Hospital Research and Referral, New Delhi, will ensure that all procedures meet the highest medical standards.
The camp includes comprehensive cataract screenings, followed by surgeries for eligible patients. The imported premium intraocular lenses being used offer enhanced visual outcomes for the recipients.
In addition to Minister Joshi, Brigadier Parikshit Singh, Commandant of Military Hospital Dehradun, and other senior military officials attended the event to support the initiative.
