Clive Myrie, the BBC News presenter, has addressed viewers’ concerns over the appearance of his left eye during a broadcast on Monday evening. While presenting BBC News at Six, some viewers noticed that his left eye appeared half-shut compared to his wide-open right eye, leading to questions about his health.
In response to the flood of worried comments on social media, Clive reassured fans that the issue was due to a minor infection, stating, “Happy N.Year everyone and thank you all for your concern over my left eye. It’s nothing serious, just an infection.” He added a humorous touch to his message, joking, “I did think about wearing an eye patch, but the boss said no! A bit like Long John Silver. He wasn’t having any of it! Cheers.”
Despite Clive’s lighthearted response, viewers continued to express concern, with several posting comments about his appearance. One asked, “Can you confirm that Clive Myrie is OK? Clive Myrie’s sty looks pretty sore this evening,” while others shared similar inquiries, such as “What’s wrong with Clive Myrie’s eye tonight?” and “Is Clive Myrie ok? His left eye is droopy?”
This isn’t the first time Clive’s actions have attracted attention. He recently made headlines for not declaring external earnings from corporate events, amounting to £145,000 over the past year, in violation of BBC transparency guidelines.
