L’Oreal is setting new standards in skincare innovation with the unveiling of its groundbreaking analysis tool, Cell BioPrint, at the CES technology show in Las Vegas. This portable, tabletop device promises to provide users with unprecedented insights into the aging of their skin and how it responds to various cosmetic ingredients.
The device works by analyzing a skin sample collected through a simple facial tape strip placed on the cheek. According to L’Oreal, Cell BioPrint can offer a detailed breakdown of a user’s skin biological age, predict its responsiveness to different skincare ingredients, and provide proactive guidance to prevent potential cosmetic issues before they become visible.
L’Oreal hopes this new tool will shift skincare practices from being reactive to proactive, allowing users to take control of their skin’s health by addressing concerns early on.
Developed in partnership with the Korean start-up NanoEnTek, Cell BioPrint is set to integrate with L’Oreal’s existing Skin Connect device, which uses artificial intelligence to analyze facial images. This combination will offer consumers a comprehensive understanding of their skin and how to care for it based on their unique needs.
The new system will undergo a pilot launch in select L’Oreal stores in Asia later in 2025, providing early access to the technology. The debut of the device at CES 2025 highlights L’Oreal’s continued commitment to blending cutting-edge technology with skincare expertise. The company’s long-standing presence at CES, alongside other global innovators, signals its dedication to shaping the future of beauty.
L’Oreal’s decision to introduce Cell BioPrint is grounded in research showing that many skincare purchases today are driven by trial and error. By offering consumers more data about their skin and how to protect it, the company aims to meet the growing demand for personalized skincare solutions.
The global skincare market, valued at approximately £100 billion in 2024, is increasingly influenced by consumers’ desire for deeper insights into their skin’s health. In this context, L’Oreal’s new device seeks to empower users to make informed decisions and enhance their skincare routines.
Barbara Lavernos, L’Oreal’s Deputy CEO for Research, Innovation, and Technology, expressed the company’s excitement about this innovation, stating: “At L’Oreal, we’re always looking toward the future of beauty, blending cutting-edge discoveries with our long-standing beauty expertise. Skin is the largest organ of the body, playing a critical role in personal well-being, and with Cell BioPrint, we’re offering people the ability to gain deeper insights into their skin’s health and proactively enhance its beauty and longevity.”
