PIMS Hospital in Sirohi recently conducted a series of free cataract surgeries following a community eye camp where numerous patients were diagnosed with cataracts. The initiative brought patients from Sirohi to the hospital’s Umarada facility for treatment, where they received cataract surgeries at no cost.
The surgeries utilized the Topical Phaco technique, a minimally invasive method that allows for quicker recovery times compared to traditional approaches. This modern procedure involves the use of high-frequency ultrasound to break up the cataract, eliminating the need for incisions or stitches, and significantly enhancing patient comfort.
Ashish Agarwal, Chairman of PIMS Hospital, emphasized that the initiative is part of the hospital’s ongoing commitment to improving eye health and serving the local community. “We aim to make essential eye care accessible to all, especially in underserved areas,” Agarwal said.
The successful surgeries were performed under the guidance of Dr. Nitin Singh, the Head of the Ophthalmology Department at PIMS Hospital. Dr. Singh, along with his expert team—Dr. Sandhya Nagda, Dr. Pranshu Patel, and supporting staff members Om Prakash, Nirmala, Shiv, and Anand—ensured the smooth execution of the procedures.
This outreach underscores PIMS Hospital’s dedication to advancing medical care and improving the quality of life for people in the region, offering vital services to those who may otherwise not have access to such treatments.
