Damian Hinds, Member of Parliament for East Hampshire, recently visited the Specsavers store in Petersfield to witness firsthand how the local team is enhancing community healthcare. The visit focused on how the store’s optometry and audiology experts are helping alleviate pressure on the NHS while providing vital services in the heart of the community.
Hinds met with the team to discuss the NHS services provided by the locally owned store and how Specsavers is well-positioned to support NHS commissioners. “I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the team at Specsavers Petersfield and learning more about both optometry and audiology,” Hinds said. “I was particularly interested in the plan to collaborate with the NHS in delivering community glaucoma services and urgent eye care across Hampshire. These initiatives will bring essential care closer to home for East Hampshire residents and ease the strain on NHS hospitals.”
Jo Cox, a partner at Specsavers Petersfield, expressed pride in the store’s ongoing community engagement. “We are proud to be part of our community,” Cox said. “We discussed how we can help provide more consistent community eye and hearing health services, working closely with the local integrated care board to ensure everyone in Hampshire has access to the services they need.”
Specsavers Petersfield, open seven days a week, is committed to offering accessible care, with services including home visits for those unable to leave their homes due to illness or disability.
