In the ever-evolving discourse surrounding cosmetic treatments and plastic surgery, opinions are often divided on what is considered “acceptable” or “appropriate.” However, Jenna Lyons, businesswoman and star of The Real Housewives of New York (RHONY), is calling for a more compassionate and open-minded approach.
In a recent interview, Lyons shared her candid thoughts on aging and cosmetic procedures, urging society to stop being so judgmental. “We’re all so goddamn judgmental,” she said, addressing the societal scrutiny around cosmetic surgery. “Whatever works for you. I think people need to do what makes sense for them and what feels good for them. I think it’s a really personal choice.”
Lyons, known for her refreshing honesty, also opened up about her own struggles with self-image, particularly in the public eye. Reflecting on her first season on RHONY, she admitted to being critical of her appearance, especially when comparing herself to younger castmates. “I was really hard on myself about the way I looked, and I was comparing myself to women who were 20 years younger than me,” she explained.
However, the positive feedback she received after the second season, particularly regarding her decision to embrace her gray hair, helped shift her perspective. “I had gotten so much positive feedback from people — particularly people who were like, ‘I love that you’re letting your grays show.’”
While embracing her natural aging process, Lyons also remains open to the benefits of cosmetic treatments. “Sign me up!” she exclaimed when discussing the topic, although she confessed a fear of fillers, preferring a more wellness-focused approach to beauty and self-care.
Lyons’ balanced stance on cosmetic treatments highlights the importance of personal choice and the need to approach these decisions with understanding rather than judgment.
