Karen Huger, the self-proclaimed “Grande Dame” of The Real Housewives of Potomac, has been a fixture on the show since its debut in 2016. As the eldest among her castmates, Karen has often dispensed life advice while navigating the realities of fame, including candid discussions about cosmetic procedures—though she wasn’t always upfront about them.
During the early seasons of RHOP, fans and castmates alike noticed significant changes in Karen’s appearance, particularly during Season 2. At the time, Karen was absent from a birthday party hosted by costar Ashley Darby, which led to rumors of plastic surgery. Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon, two of Karen’s closest friends on the show, confronted her at the reunion, alleging that she had undergone surgery. While Karen initially denied the claims, the accusations intensified when Gizelle revealed that Karen had given multiple excuses for her absence, including a story about caring for her ill mother, only for Gizelle to later discover that Karen was actually in New York undergoing cosmetic procedures.
At the time, Karen vehemently denied the rumors, calling Gizelle a “f–king liar” when questioned about the alleged surgery.
However, over the years, Karen’s stance on her cosmetic enhancements has evolved. During the RHOP Season 5 reunion in 2020, Karen admitted to receiving filler in her nose to address breathing issues. “My nose just tilts down with time, and they just filled the tip of my nose up with a little filler,” she explained to host Andy Cohen.
In the 2021 Season 6 reunion, Karen further opened up about her cosmetic procedures when Nicki Minaj, the celebrity cohost, complimented her appearance. Karen revealed that she uses under-eye filler as part of her self-care routine, adding that she stays in shape by eating well and exercising. “I take very good care of myself,” she said. “I think age is just a number.”
But it wasn’t until the 2024 reunion that Karen fully acknowledged undergoing a facelift. After years of speculation and previous denials, Karen confirmed that she had indeed undergone a deep plane facelift, calling it a “refreshing” change. “Absolutely, I did a deep plane [facelift], and I just look like me – refreshed,” she told Andy Cohen.
While Karen has been transparent about some of her cosmetic enhancements, she maintained that she had not undergone any surgical procedures on her body, joking with Ashley that her physique remains all-natural. “Oh, nothing on the body because I’m done with the body. My body is me, banging,” she remarked.
Despite her long history of denying and then gradually admitting to cosmetic procedures, Karen’s candidness about aging and self-care continues to be a central part of her RHOP persona.
