Influencer Skye Wheatley has returned to the cosmetic clinic for another procedure, just months after undergoing a series of controversial beauty treatments in Turkey. At 30 years old, Wheatley shared her latest procedure—a $599 chin filler treatment—on Instagram this week, highlighting the results of her enhanced side profile.
Chin fillers, a popular cosmetic procedure, involve the injection of dermal fillers into the jawline area to create a more defined, stronger chin. Wheatley, who appeared in a promotional video for a Gold Coast-based cosmetic injectables clinic, expressed her satisfaction with the results, commenting, “My side profile is all in line now.” She added, “My chin used to go back into my head; I swear it was shrinking or something.”
This marks Wheatley’s latest cosmetic enhancement, following a trip to Turkey last year, where she underwent a series of procedures. Among them were a fox eye lift—designed to achieve an almond-shaped eye look similar to that achieved with dramatic makeup—along with liposuction on her arms and inner thighs, a temporal lift, and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). A temporal lift is a fat transfer procedure aimed at reducing the need for dermal fillers.
While Wheatley has been open about her cosmetic procedures, including the fox eye lift that she once described as making her look like an “angry bird,” her transparency has led to both support and criticism. Some followers have expressed concern about her impact on body image, with one Instagram user accusing her of contributing to self-esteem issues among young women. In response, Wheatley defended her decision to openly discuss her enhancements, stating, “I won’t be one of those people” who hides their surgeries.
Just weeks later, Wheatley revealed her struggle with body dysmorphia (BDD) in an emotional TikTok video. She acknowledged that her cosmetic procedures may be linked to the mental health condition, which causes individuals to obsess over perceived flaws in their appearance. “I know that I’m probably mentally ill,” she admitted, sharing her fear that her sons may one day suffer from the same condition. Wheatley also opened up about childhood struggles, including her unfulfilled dreams of becoming a famous singer and the self-doubt she attributes to unresolved issues with her father.
Body dysmorphia is a mental illness where individuals obsess over a flaw in their appearance, which may be real or imagined. It often leads to excessive cosmetic procedures, as sufferers attempt to “fix” the perceived defect. In response to growing concerns about cosmetic surgery’s link to mental health issues, the Australian cosmetic surgery industry implemented new reforms in July 2023. These regulations now require a mandatory GP referral before surgery, body dysmorphia testing, a cooling-off period between consultation and procedure, and stricter advertising guidelines to highlight the risks of cosmetic interventions.
Amidst her cosmetic procedures, Wheatley has continued to share personal aspects of her life with her followers. This week, she posted a “day on a plate” video to TikTok, chronicling her calorie-counting routine as part of her efforts to “lean down.” She shares two sons, Forest, five, and Bear, three, with her long-term partner, Lachlan Waugh.
